The Color Room April Challenge

Another Challenge layout completed - I do love public holidays!!!  The colour yellow and the picture of kitchen cupboards on the inspiration board reminded me of the flowers growing under the kitchen window of my sister in laws house.  So here is my layout:

I started with a reverse chicken wire stencil and texture paste.  Marigold Glimmermist and Gelatoes - Lemon Butterscotch and Chocolate were added to create a water colour effect and edges.  Stamping on the background using brown ink and Tim Holtz and Kaisercraft Stamps.

All the flowers & leaves were made using Heartfelt Creations Astra Die cut.  The edges of the flowers were inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Dye and embossed in glitter embossing powder. The centre of the flowers are a combination of brads and beads.

The gate and fence as well as the bouquet to the side are die cuts from Memory Box.  The bee is a Little B embellishment.

The "weekend" is my clothing tag.  The bird is also a Little B embellishment.  The string of flowers are mod podge melts I made and coloured with Lemon Gelatoes.  The birdhouse is a Cheery Lynn die cut.

The small grey and black flowers are from Petaloo.

Thanks for stopping by and dont forget to have a look at the other entries - and have a go at the colour room :)

SCRAP THE BOYS LAYOUT

Here is my layout for this months challenge at Scrap the Boys.  It is a photo of my son and two of his mates at their Grade 10 Leavers Dinner.

This challenge this month is to "use flowers on a boy layout".

The paper is Coral Reef by 7 dots (just love this range).  I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Dusty Concord and a stencil to create the background.  Over this I used a Prima Square stencil and Ferro Graphit.  This is a sand like texture paste.  Random stamping with Prima and Tim Holtz stamps.

Some close ups:

The flowers are from i am roses and prima.  I used Metallic Grape gelatoes to colour the flowers.  The chipboard butterfly and arrows have been coloured with Inka Gold - Violet.  The small hearts were made with mod podge melts and coloured with Inka Gold

The chipboard squares have been painted with Viva 3D stamp paint.  I used washi tape, grip tape and mesh

I also made the key with mod podge melts and coloured with Inka-Gold.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to head over to Scrap the Boys and check out the other layouts.

BLACK WITH 2 APRIL CHALLENGE

Having a week off work over Easter has been wonderful - I have been able to complete some layouts and enter some challenges.

I completed this layout for the month challenge at black with 2: -  using the word Inspiration.  I turned the sketch upside down.

The frame is a Blue Fern chipboard - Royal Bird frame.  I started with gesso and then used embossing powder - Stampedous and Zing.  Over this I applied Dimensional Magic and before it was dry, sprinkled Tim Holtz clear rock candy glitter over the entire frame.

The flowers are from i am roses.  I colored them using Glimmer Mist - pop rocks and Dylusions Ink - cut grass.

I embossed the edges of the paper using a stamp - Prima Mixed Media and embossing powder.  I did the same with the lines for the journalling and the heart stamp.  Finally added a bit of bling, ribbon and chipboard hearts.

Once Upon A ....Sketch Layout

Having a week off over Easter I decided to do some challenges and Once Upon A Sketch caught my eye.  I have always admired their sketches but have never had enough time with work to do a layout, the end of month always came around when I was part way through!!!!!  Anyway, this month is different and here is my take on the sketch -  my marriage certainly was an event that changed my life.  My journaling is on the back of the layout.

I used Heartfelt Creations Paper - and purple was the colour of my bridesmaids. The stencil on the background is Tim Holtz Stripes using Viva Modelling Creme - Mother of Pearl.  Here are some close ups:

I used Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals, Mountain Lavender Gold to cover the chipboard banner.  I then added some Aged Embossing Enamel.

The heart is cut from the Cheery Lynn Designs "Two of Hearts" die cut.  I then coated it with Dimensional Magic and sprinkled it with Martha Stewart coarse glitter whilst wet.  (hard to see on this angle)

the bird cage was done in the same way as the banner.  The bird was cut from a Memory Box Die cut - Resting Birds.  The lighter flowers are made from Modge Podge Melts and painted with Magicals.

The larger heart is also a die cut - Memory Box Bingham Heart. The background stamps are from Bo Bunny and kaisercraft. The hatpin is from Petaloo.

Here is the sketch that I followed.  Dont forget to go to Once Upon A Sketch Blog and check all the entries and DT layouts out.  They are awesome.

WW1 - Mint!!!

Here is my layout for this month over at White with 1

This month's colour is MINT

Here is my layout:

This is a picture of my husband and I way back when!!! The photo is not that great in the picture but I did have alot of trouble with my camera today. The background was created using canvas strips, over which I applied a Tim Holtz stencil "Dot Fade" with some texture paste.  I then used a mask and glimmer mist spray.  I outlined the canvas with some gelatos  "Metallic Mint". I cut the butterflies and hearts from die cuts.  The chipboard I coloured with gesso and then the gelatos. This was then embossed  with glitter embossing powder and on some of the swirls I  used Liquid Pearls "mint green".   The flowers are a combination of i am roses and kaisercraft.

LETS GET SKETCHY APRIL WEEK 1 DT LAYOUT

Its that time of the month again! - LGS has a new sketch for the start of April - and here is my take:

We have lost daylight savings here in Tasmania over the weekend and so the photo is not quite as good as I would have liked.  The background page (from My Minds Eye)  is certainly alot brighter in real life.  I used one of the new Memory Box Stencils and Viva Croco Crackling Paint - Gold behind the photo.

here is a copy of the sketch that was designed by Laura Whitaker:

Be sure to check out the other design team entries and have a go.   :)
