The second layout I did for this weekend is the sketch challenge at Purple Pumpkin. You can find the details on their website : purple pumpkin August Sketch challenge
Here is my take:
The background paper is Prima - Fairy Rhymes Collection. I applied gesso to most of the paper to tone down the colours and then used two finnabair stencils. I then used Tattered Angels glimmer mists gumdrop and walnut stain randomly on the page. The flowers are from i am roses which i paints with silks glaze - vine and viva precious metal - gold (which i watered down and put in a spray bottle).
I hope you enjoy looking as much as i did making this page :)

SWIRLYDOO'S TRANSFORM IT CHALLENGE
This month Swirlydoo's challenge is to start with a scrapbooking paper and transform it. Here is my take:
I started with this paper, from Kaisercraft Miss Empire Collection:
and applied gesso, roses stencil, glimmer mists - gumdrop, walnut gold, pomegranate, dragonfly and then some more gesso and a touch of gelatos. The background paper on the photo was edged with martha stewart punch and highlights with lavender gelato. The flowers are from I am roses and Petaloo. I coloured the i am roses flowers with the glimmer mists used on the background.
I hope you enjoy and have a great weekend.

ANYTHING GOES ABOUT A BOY CHALLENGE
For the month of August we were asked to complete a page of our choice - the only rule - it must have a male photo.
This is my DT layout:
My sons greatest wish is to travel overseas as a 'gap year' and I hope that he does it. I did it and have wonderful memories.

WHITE WITH 1 AUGUST CHALLENGE
Today I created a page to submit in the White with 1 August Challenge:
White + Pastels + Masking
I started with Kaisercraft Cardstock in Musk. I applied a Donna Downey stencil and gesso around the edges of the paper. I cut the doiley from the Cheery Lynn designs - Nautical Wheeler Doily. I used the centre of this doily for under the butterfly and the balance of the doily under the layers. The horizontal layer is a scrap from the Chloe Marie Collection Daisyd's which i inked in Bundled Sage distress ink using a Prima Stencil. The top vertical layer is a piece from the coordinations white wash collection. The flourish on top of this is cut from a Cheery Lynn Design Diecut - Mini Flourish One. The butterflies I cut out and highlighted with Dimensional Magic. The main flower I made - I cut cardstock and muslin fabric flowers from Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die and layered them. I coloured the muslin using Guava Gelato and then spayed with Glimmer Mist Tattered Rose and Gumdrop. The others flowers are kaisercraft and the white ones - i am roses which i coloured with the two glimmer mists and place brads in the centre. The chipboard pieces, I painted with gesso and then inked lightly with distress inks - bundled sage, tattered rose and spun sugar and then applied diminsional magic, The "love" and flowers were little stickers from my stash that i placed on before the dimensional magic. A few randaom dots of liquid pearls and my page is complete.

BACK TO SCHOOL
August 1 - BACK TO SCHOOL - About A Boy Challenge
Here is my layout of my eldest son when he was in high school. I created the background by applying distress ink on a white 12x12 page. Once dry I placed the Crafters Workshop Alphabet stencil on the page and applied gesso. When removing the stencil the background inks were highlighted. I then added some layers of paper and a chipboard label which was stamped with the Kaisercraft Alphabet stamp. I also used this stamp on the corners of some of the background papers The black ladder beading on the right is actually the reverse side of some diamente bling on a roll.
Dont forget to head over to the blog and have a look at the other layouts - be inspired and submit your layout :) About A Boy
