CREATIVE POST BLOG HOP

You may have noticed that there have been many people participating in the Creative Post Blog Hop.  I am on two design teams with the very creative Cindy Porter and she has tagged me, so here I am!!

So what is this I hear you say? Well it has been going for a while now (as I found out when I tried to tag a few other arty folk for this post) and it entails answering a few simple questions to get to know me a little better, then I will tag some other crafty peep to keep it going the following week.

So here goes:

What am I working on Now?

I am currently completing a layout for my next reveal at Scrapbookit and a canvas for my sister-in-laws birthday this coming weekend - yep I am behind time on this one!!!!

How does my work differ from others in my genre?

This is difficult - I do not compare my work to others, but I do get inspiration from many scrapbookers.  I fight to get the end result some get....   My layouts can be very different depending on what I am doing or what I have to work with but there is always some form of mixed media involved.

Why do I create what I do?

I have always done something - my first kindergarten photo was of my doing paper mache! Most things have come and gone - string art, macrame, rug making, canework. Scrapbooking has been my one constant for the past 12 or so years.  I think because you can combine photos with art and you get a keepsake that can be handed through the family. One day my boys (or their partners probably) will be interested in the stories that each page tells.
Then there is the other side - I find it relaxing, a wind down from my job, and a social life that brings people from all over the world together.

How does my creative process work?

It usually starts with something new - a stencil, a kit I have been sent, a new ink....  I then chose a photo and the page begins to assemble based on the photo or the sketch/mood board I have to follow.  If I get a block, it is off to pinterest and youtube to get the creativeness flowing!  Once I have finished the layout, I tend to sit on it overnight, cos I always find something to add to it the next day!

Well that is me done - I am tagging Brenda with whom I am on the Scrapbookit Design Team.  I hope you pop over to her blog next Monday for her share in this Creative Post Blog Hop.

Til next time - happy scrapping

LETS GET SKETCHY = DT REVEAL WEEK 2

Hi there again - I am back this time with the sketch challenge over at Lets Get Sketchy.

Here is my layout, again a photo of my son's lovely girlfriend and her many "selfies"!

and here is the sketch this month by Bev Code

I chose to use one photo.  I created the background using 13 arts paper "always reach higher"  I used a Prima Stencil "stain" with texture paste.  I then used gelatos and water to create the background.  The colours I used are Earl Grey, Peach, Guava and Metallic Melon.  Background stamping was from the Ranger Dylusions stamp.  Flowers and leaves are from Prima.

I used Chalk Ink in Black Coal to colour the chipboard which is from Which Craft Do you Do.

Here are some close ups:

Dont forget to head over to Lets Get Sketchy and check out the other DT Reveals, and have a go this month - there is still plenty of time left.

LAST DT REVEAL FOR THIS MONTH AT D-LISH SCRAPS

Welcome back for my third post at D-lish Scraps.  This time I have scrapped a photo of our backyard when it snowed.

I think the snow always makes the gardens look lovely - maybe because the snow covers up the weeds!!

In this layout I created the background with a Brick Stencil and Watercoloured pencils.  The background paper is from Studio 75.  I also used Inklingz - Penny for your Thoughts to colour the chipboard that I used from the store - "memories" and heart shapes .  I used an assortment of flowers - a White Flower VineFabric Flowers, and Paper Flowers.   Just love the Key that is available with a choice of words, the flairs. Cabochons, and tiny mini roses.  I also used the Paper Clip arrow and the date from the Journal It Packs.

Here are some close ups:

Thanks for stopping by and look forward to being back next month with a new set of layouts.  Until then, have a go at the moodboard this month - gotta be in it to win it!!!!!

OTP project for Scrapbookit

For my second reveal this month at Scrapbookit, I have the "Country Cookin" Collection from Ruby Rock-It to use and I decided to make some coasters and placements:

I purchased the placemats and coasters from Spotlight and coloured the edged and front with Tim Holtz Distress Ink  "Vintage Photo"   I then used the papers from the Ruby Rock-It collection to create the mats.  I used a gloss sealer on the top to protect them so they can actually be used.

I hope that you have received some inspiration from this to get crafting :) Until next time have fun and thanks for stopping by :)

DT REVEAL AT SCRAPBOOKIT

I am excited to reveal my first layout for Scrapbookit based on the sketch challenge for this month.  I had the awesome Ruby Rocket It "Country Cookin" collection paper to create with.  Here is the sketch

And here is my take on the photo:

I started with the "Wonderful" paper where I cut the frame out and laid it on a piece of plain card stock.  I used Tim Holtz Stencil " Doily" and Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Vintage Photo" on the background before building my layers with the Ruby Rocket it Papers.  I coloured the centre of the Manor House Flowers with Magicals "Libetan Poppy teal".   I also used the Magicals around the edges of all layers and on the Ruby Rocket It Chipboards and smaller flowers.

Here are some close ups:

Thanks for stopping by, and have a go at the sketch this month.  I will be back tomorrow with an Off The Page project I did with this Ruby Rock It Paper Collection

EXCITEMENT - FIRST DT REVEAL WITH BLACK WITH 2

I am very excited to announce that I am now part of the DT with Blackwith2. I have entered their challenges many times and now am on the other side by offering you some inspiration :)

This months Challenge is to create a layout using black card stock and Mulberry + Pink and using the word Pretty in the Journalling.

Here is my layout:

This photo was taken of my husband's Nan at her 90th.  The mushroom looking image created my inspiration for the background stencil.

Here is the mood board for October:

I created the background using a Crafters Workshop stencil and modelling paste coloured with Tim Holtz distress paint "Picked Raspberry".  The chipboard has been coated with Viva Facetten-Lack Coco Crackling "Black n Berry".  Flowers are from iamroses and Flourish with a Bling.  I fussy cut the butterflies from Maja Design and Kaisercraft Paper.  Finishing touches include a Maja Road pin, Washi Tape and Prima "say it with crystals".

Here are some close ups:

So head over to Black With 2 blog and see what the other DT members have created, be inspired and create your own layout.
